what we've been up to......
angela got lasik eye surgery. PRK to be accurate. on August 27th at Pacific Laser in Vancouver. Check it out. www.pacific-laser.com Dr. David Lin is incredible. The procedure was completely painfree My prescription was -11.00. This means I could not see anything further than about 3" away from me. I have had glasses since age 5, when i was -5.00. I was so freaking scared! I totally thought I was going to chicken out. I was scared of the burning smell, the pain etc There was NONE of that. I am sooooo pleased that I got it done. Every morning, every night ( and quite often 10 x/ day), I think " Oh! I forgot to take out my contacts" or (since I had to wear my glasses ALL summer to prepare my eyes for surgery) I touch my face, feeling for my glasses. Its amazing.
Chloe has been learning more and more. She is now nearly 8 months old. She now shakes a paw. Gives a high five. Shakes the other paw. Lays down, Crawls. Rolls over. She sometimes comes. She knows what "where's bella?" (her best fur friend), "where's pippi?" (her furcousin), "who's home?" (when travis is home from work), and runs to the truck when we ask if she wants to go for a truck ride. She is hilairious. She loves a good cuppa tea. In short, she is the perfect little hound for us.
Travis has been working. tons. he's been working the past 2 weeks straight (read: no days off. 10 hr days) because the plant is having 'shut down'. This is very different from his usual M-F 8-4 stint. We look forward to the return of routine. sanity.
We bought a new vehicle! A 2008 green tea Honda CRV EX-L. Thats right, fully loaded, leather, heated seats. Its amazing. Quite a change from my 2006 Chevrolet Aveo. We are thoroughly enjoying it and have a little less dread about winter as we now have remote start, heated seats and heated windows/mirrors.

we got a puppy!! and we've been busy. for those who have never had a puppy. i'd say it is NEARLY as demanding as a newborn infant. like a baby, she has stolen our hearts and has travis (ok and me) wrapped around her finger...er PAW.

another weekend over. on friday night angela worked the 'teen swim' while travis hung out at home. on saturday, after service they met up with savanna and the crew from terrace for lunch. then angela taught a swimming lesson. that night they went to the motorcross show at the multiplex and then over to Kin 1 where trav played hockey. angela snuck out of hockey early and went over to leslie's. on sunday after the meeting, angela and travis headed to quesnel where travis worked for joan fixing things in exchange for dinner. visited with jared, char, mackenzie, brooks and eileen and had dessert with them. only 11 days until hawaii and the happy pineapple adventures....

angela and travis had another busy weekend. on friday night they went and saw rana and lorin's new weiner dog pup that is adorable and hung out with leslie and jason. on saturday after the bookstudy and service, angela worked for a few hours for the free spirit of bc swim doing games for the public and travis napped. they hoped to see 'fool's gold' but it was sold out. travis played hockey and angela scrapbooked. after the meeting ons sunday, they headed to leslie and jason's where travis and jason went snowmobiling and leslie and the girls had a fashion show with old grad dresses. on sunday evening they went bowling.
highlight of the weekend?!?!?!? after eating some delicious fast food from a local fast food establishment's drive-thru. angela and travis realized that the girl only charged their debit card $1.33 instead of $13.34. Sweet!!!

married for nearly 8 months. time has flown by, oh my! highlights from the 1st eight months include: honeymoon in puerto vallarta, fun summer days in medicine hat, return to prince george, trips to texas and dominican republic, setting up our little house and having our first guests over. oh and.....pirating movies and episodes of the office off the internet.
angela and travis are heading to hawaii on the 29th! woot woot! Upon our return, Angela will begin working at a private swim school. She is most thrilled, as this is the school that she used to swim at and the retiring instructor is AMAZING. Angela looks forward to learning as much as she can from this brilliant woman.
Travis is nearly done his schooling. On Feb 14th, he has one more exam to challenge. Then he should be done, done, done.....

cold.snowy.blustery.wet.ugh
yesterday angela made a massive pot of creamy chicken potato soup with the idea of having it for lunch and then freezing little containers of it for travis' lunch. it was a high quality soup with delicious chicken breast,carrots,celery,onion,potato,peas in a creamy base with bowtie pasta.well angela put it all together then set it to simmer on low-med. when she was in the tub,she asked travis to check on it....which he did and then he said 'yep.it was fine, but i turned it down just in case'.well....his 'down' was actually 'up' and the next thing angela knew the soup was boiling over and burnt. about 3c. of the soup ended up being burnt and ruined.
angela and travis used some of their wedding gift card to buy a beautiful deluxe scrabble board which they played last night.
the weather outside is frightful.

snowangel-alast night the newlyweds got all geared up in their snowpants,mittens,touques and boots and headed outdoors to build a couple o' snowmen. but the snow wasn't sticky enough. so instead the graffiti'd their little house with snow.

angela and travis went grocery shopping. they did it 3 weeks ago. but this time, when travis could barely push the cart b/c it was so full and angela follwed behind with 2 armsfull of more groceries. when the total came to $343.00 ( after the $30 off coupon). they decided that they will not do one big grocery shop a month. once they run out of food ( perhaps in 5-6 weeks this time) they will just shop a little bit every week. it was quite embarrassing to buy enough food to out weigh the aveo.

angela and travis really miss medicine hat. especially the congregation there. well, mostly angela misses medicine hat. travis is thoroughly enjoying his job, and angela is missing teaching swimming lessons.
angela and travis are still trying to sell the aveo....
and they are getting VERY sick of people accidently calling their phone number. it happens about 10-12 times per DAY. (no exaggeration!). Why? 1. b/c some junky trailer park has an old sign up with the phone number, despite the fact they they haven't had that number for 14 or more years. 2. b/c its ONE digit off from the local radio stations. angela and travis decided this morning ( at 6 am, when the radio had a call-in contest) that the next person who calls is going to be the winner. they are going to have a little fun with this annoyance, as they don't want to change their number right at the moment b/c angela has her car advertised with the phone number. anyways. its annoying. travis and angela are also contemplating compiling a list of all the #s who have miss-dialed and calling THEM at 6am. payback.
angela and travis are having some people over this evening. then tomorrow night is a congregation get-together. hot dogs, icecream sundaes and dancing. should be fun.
angela is going to officially/legally make herself Angela Marie Shymanski today. she is going in to change her name on her legal documents so she can send away for her passport renewal.

weekly update......
angela and travis are finally feeling settled in their little house. they are still trying to sell the Aveo. angela's bridal is coming along nicely. she rented out the wedding gown and sold the table centrepieces! angela and travis attended a bookstudy dinner last night in quesnel, even though they were only part of that bookstudy for a short time in summer '06. it was a nice evening. angela had finally finished her wedding album so she was able to show everyone the photos. angela is quite pumped about getting her hair done on wednesday.... on saturday, there is going to be a congregation party. with all the kids and everyone there are nearly 180 people invited. its a hotdog/ icecream fiesta with a dance after. should be good. angela is set to bring 3 doz hot dog buns and marachino cherries for the sundaes....... travis and angela are already excited for the upcoming workweek to be over!

three and a half months! wow...... angela and travis agree that the time has flown by. they are enjoying married life immensly. they were happily reunited on sunday morning after their separate trips: angela and her family went to the dominican republic from sept 28- oct 6, and travis spent 2 days in texas during that time. travis and angela hope to never be apart for that long again! angela has rented out her wedding gown. she is glad that her beautiful gown will be enjoyed by someone else on their happy day. angela is nearly done her wedding scrapbook albumn. she is finding the last few pages torturous to complete...... next she will be on to scrapbooking the dominican trip. angela and travis now have a kitchen table as well as living room furniture. joan lent them a computer, and they have turned the spare bedroom into a office/hockey/scrapbooking room. angela got a fantastic new hair straightener which has made her life even more wonderful. hooray for straight hair! angela and travis are trying to sell angela's car: 2006 aveo, in hopes of buying a new, all wheel drive vehicle that will make winter driving safer. they think that they have narrowed down their vehicle of choice. with the canadian dollar so high right now, they are contemplating importing a vehicle from the usa. they are weighing the pros and cons of such a decision...... overall angela and travis are busily and happily enjoying being married.....

angela is sick of all the work that goes along with moving: setting up accounts at bc hydro, teresen gas, telus. cancelling and trying to get money back from: shaw, co-operators insurance, city of medicine hat utilities etc. finding a place to live. changing addresses EVERYWHERE! never again!

travis and angela are thoroughly enjoying married life. they have found an adorable 2 bedroom house that backs right onto the nechako river. a beautiful big yard on a small little lane with four other houses. it is not as fancy as the condo in medicine hat, but it will be a cozy, cute start in prince george. they are moving in on september 1st and are excited to unpack and get resettled.
travis is LOVING his job at the oil refinery and angela is pleased to be back at work at nechako optometry.leah and ryan were up for the week. it was an enjoyable time. on thursday leah and angela enjoyed a delicious lunch at the tea house, with their favourite server, rachel making it a memorable experience. on friday ryan, leah,mom, rachel and angela had lunch at than vu. it was deliciously vietnamese. on friday night the whole family had an anniversary dinner for rachel and philip, who have been married 3 years now. travis and angela went to their first meeting in their new congregation yesterday and then headed over to visit with leslie and jason. here are some photos of the wedding that angela absolutely LOVES!

angela and travis are moving back to prince george! angela gets to go back to her favourite place of employment: NOC and travis is starting work for Can-West controls at the HUSKY oil plant. they are excited to move back home, but NOT excited about the whole packing, long drive, unpacking, finding new place to live, hooking up phone etc again. angela is saving up money for the family vacation to the dominican republic at the end of september, although she is very sad that travis can't go ( he has to go to texas for a school/ work thing).......

travis and angela are getting settled in their beautiful condo in medicine hat. will try to post photos soon. bought some furniture and are working their way through all their wedding gift cards and money. angela is teaching swimming lessons and working for the optometrist. travis is waiting for his job to start. it's cookin hot ( 40C) having a blast! write us. angela.m.peters@gmail.com !!!

65 hours........
woweeeee. travis is packing for the honeymoon. angela is writing wedding speeches ( yes plural. everyone knows she always tells travis what to say anyways). angela is not feeling stressed yet. "is that normal?" she wonders. leah and ryan are ready for the wedding. pippi is not. wedding guests start arriving tomorrow. angela had her last day of work today and is feeling quite sad about that. she loves/ loved (past tense now) her job at NOC and cried yesterday afternoon and this morning. she will miss her job there very very much. angela is enjoying her favourite pastime- tea drinking. ah. a good cup she is sipping.

8 days......
angela and travis recieved a cool iron and some towels to add to their towel collection from ian and debbie ( rachel's mum and dad in england), and some fun gifts from angela's friend at work. hooray! presents are wonderful! travis is en route back to pg right now and angela has been doing laundry and cleaned her car. it is quite stormy outside. angela is hoping for better weather in eight days.... the plan for the weekend is to go to quesnel to see travis' grandpa who is quite ill. angela had to turn down the jobs that she had lined up in edson, as she will be starting a job in medicine hat on july 9th. it is for an optometrist in medicine hat, and angela is very excited. angela and travis always dreamt of living in medicine hat once they got married. it is such a hot, beautiful, clean city with lots to do. close to calgary, saskatchewan and the states. angela and travis are really looking forward to moving there. it will be nice to be closer to travis and angela's nieces and nephews, although they will be farther away from the ones in sylvan lake.....

today angela went out in service in the morning, then paid the balance on the flowers, bought shoes for the wedding day ( 2 pairs: ceremony and reception), bought necklaces for the bridal party girls, looked for necklaces for the flowergirls, picked up a beautiful set of dishes - gift from travis' family, made thank you cards to be used after the wedding, updated the gift registry... ah! angela accomplished lots of wedding to-do's, yet the list is never-ending.......

angela ( and travis) is spoiled once again. on thursday evening, angela's workmates met at boston pizza for yet another bridal shower. it was a yummy dinner, and a wonderful array of gifts including: a beautiful teapot, a thoughtful scrapbook, green towels, brown towels, a fondue pot, a heart shaped waffle iron, super cute oven mitts and aprons, liquor glasses, lots and lots and lots of helpful kitchen gadgets, a beautiful picture frame, wine glasses, ah! so many wonderful presents. it was a nice evening and savanna was able to join the group which was really nice too..... angela is feeling very sad about leaving nechako optometry- she loves her job,workpals and managers very much.....
this weekend was the convention, which travis and angela thoroughly enjoyed. on friday, they went out with jared, char, eileen, brooks, shyan to kelly o'briens. angela didn't really enjoy the meal, as she doesn't care for kelly o'briens, but she enjoyed the company and spending time with travis. on saturday after the session, travis and angela went to earls with jared, char, jason,kim,shea,and a few others. angela really enjoyed that meal, and the company. on sunday, joan surpised travis and angela with a beautiful wedding gift: a complete bedding set: duvet, pillows, duvet cover, shams, decorative pillows, dust ruffle. all angela and travis need to buy is a bed and some sheets and they will be all set! travis ate some left over chinese food, then loaded the car up with all of angela's recent shower gifts and headed back to edson. angela is a little sad, especially since it is pouring down rain. she could almost cry.... but she is looking forward to marrying travis is only 12.5 days....ahhhh!!!! angela really wants to obtain some photos of her recent bridal showers, but in the meantime, here are some photos of this weekend. unfortunately, travis took all the gifts with him so there is no photos of the gifts... bye for now....
this weekend was the convention, which travis and angela thoroughly enjoyed. on friday, they went out with jared, char, eileen, brooks, shyan to kelly o'briens. angela didn't really enjoy the meal, as she doesn't care for kelly o'briens, but she enjoyed the company and spending time with travis. on saturday after the session, travis and angela went to earls with jared, char, jason,kim,shea,and a few others. angela really enjoyed that meal, and the company. on sunday, joan surpised travis and angela with a beautiful wedding gift: a complete bedding set: duvet, pillows, duvet cover, shams, decorative pillows, dust ruffle. all angela and travis need to buy is a bed and some sheets and they will be all set! travis ate some left over chinese food, then loaded the car up with all of angela's recent shower gifts and headed back to edson. angela is a little sad, especially since it is pouring down rain. she could almost cry.... but she is looking forward to marrying travis is only 12.5 days....ahhhh!!!! angela really wants to obtain some photos of her recent bridal showers, but in the meantime, here are some photos of this weekend. unfortunately, travis took all the gifts with him so there is no photos of the gifts... bye for now....

jiminy smack! only 16 days left!!!
angela arrived home last night from three long workdays in mcbride where the office set up a little satellite clinic. buttt before she left ( sunday) things went like this.....
sunday morning: angela, mom, alana, dana went in service delivering convention invitations way out past willow river. then angela and mom went to pick up leah from the airport. angela thought leah was here for a week, taking a condensed course at UNBC. philip and rachel come over for dinner. then angela needs to be at the office for 5:00 pm to leave for the roadtrip. rachel says she will come along when hazel drops her off because she wants to go get her bathing suit because it is so hot and she would like to go for a swim. hazel says she needs to stop by at elaine storey's and drop something off for work. on the way to elaine's, they see her car at the daycare where hannah, elaine's grand daughter goes, so hazel tells angela to run in and give elaine the flyer. angela runs in and BAM! there is a room full of friends. at first angela ( with her jaw dropped in confusion) thinks that maybe there is a gathering going on for someone else, until she sees joan. angela has NEVER been surprised like that. ever. it was a fun evening, with lots of wonderful presents. and it turns out that leah was only here for ONE day. angela (and travis) were spoiled once again..... then angela headed out to mcbride..........

20 days......
a weekend apart. travis' work has gotten really busy now and travis had to work all stinkin' weekend. so he couldn't come home for a visit which really stunk. in fact, on friday the boss even told travis that he pretty much won't get the wedding or convention off, even though he only started the job on the condition that he got those days off. so that is really stupid. travis will just have to quit if it comes to that. leah arrives today. she will be here for a week. angela leaves tonight for working in mcbride. she will be back on wednesday evening. then on thursday, angela is getting her hair done, going to the multiplex cleaning and doing a little convention shopping. then it will be the convention. and then travis WILL be home. after the convention, it will be less than 2 weeks until the wedding. eep! then there will be a million and one things to do.

make wedding favours
finish paying for: dj, photographer, decorator and flowers.
buy shoes
buy necklaces for wedding party (girls)

23 days.......
angela has about 13 work days left at nechako optometry. she will be very sad to leave. she has thoroughly LOVED this job.she hopes that one day travis and angela will return to prince george and she can work there again. another wedding gift arrived for pickup by angela at the bay. an awesome stainless steel and black hand mixer. angela is excited about the fact that when she makes cookies ( to use her heart shaped cookie cutters), she will not have to use a spoon while mixing, now she can use an ELECTRIC appliance. Travis and Angela have now officially received their first small kitchen appliance! Woo! A few weeks ago, they received a beautiful set of dishes from grandma irene, ken, anne and david in england. angela and travis can't wait to have a real live 'dinner party' so they can use the set, which includes NAPKIN rings, serving dishes... everything.
angela is housesitting for a lady she works for and loves the smell of the greenhouse. mmm. like invisible tomatoes. ....

travis has been calling all the instrumentation places in medicine hat, hoping to find suitable employment there. angela and travis both really really really hope that they can move to medicine hat ASAP. they pretty much love medicine hat and want to spend more time with elora and liam ( angela's niece and nephew) and mel and ian (angela's sister and her husband. elora and liam's parents.) and live in a city where people can afford to live and where the weather is hot.
angela and travis are hoping to sell travis' car ASAP.

25 days left.......
another weekend together whizzed right past. on friday night joan, dana, shyan joined us for a spanokapita work bee. we made about 180 of the little spinach pies for the wedding- almost done! and then we helped leslie modify "oh, the places you'll go" for the speech she was going to be giving to the 2007 dental hygiene class. on saturday, angela worked in the morning. when she was off work angela and travis went out for lunch and then headed over to brenda and kris' later that evening where they played their first bocce game of the season. ah bocce!!! last summer, angela and travis became addicted to italian lawn bowling and even were in a tournament. on sunday, angela and travis went to the driving range to practice up for golf season. angela's 3rd cousin (mom's cousin) and his wife had driven up from princeton, so we all enjoyed a meal together before travis sadly had to leave.........

33 days........
eileen and brooks' wedding was saturday. it was a beautiful wedding, and travis and angela were very thrilled to play a part in it.... it made travis and angela even more excited for their own wedding which is FAST APPROACHING.
travis and angela booked their honeymoon!!!!! they are going to puerto vallarta. they will leave june 24 at 7:15 am from prince george. they are very excited. they are staying at the allegro nuevo resort. it looks very nice.
last night, philip made a few of the wedding menu items and philip, rachel, travis and angela had a little 'tasting'. they are confident that the food is going to be wonderful.
the bridesmaid dresses are all adjusted and have their straps on them now. they are so adorable. angela is very excited to see all three of the girls together in the dresses. leah will be up on june 2 and they will put together the wedding favours.
angela is still waiting for the return of her ring now that it has been sized in calgary. it is currently in the possesion of aaron and laura.
angela will only be 'angela peters' for 33 more days!!!!!!!!!!! she is really looking forward to having an exquisite last name, which you have to spell constantly: Shymanski.

38 days!!!!!!
here's the latest. angela and travis were just about to book their honeymoon to.... HAWAII. when they realized that the trip is going to cost about... $2000.00 (flight) + $1000.00 ( hotel) + $500.00-$1000.00 (food and entertainment)= between $3500.00-$4000.00. Soooo now angela has found some good deals to mexico from vancouver. ALL INCLUSIVE packages for $1900.00 ( for both: includes flight, transfers from airport, accomodations, food, entertainment etc). So if they add return airfare from PG- VAN, it still only comes to $2700.00. Still expensive, but in comparison to the hawaii idea.... way more affordable..... nothing is booked yet, though....
Angela's ring is at Spence in Calgary now. it has finally been sized. went from a 7.5 - 5.25. angela is really hoping that the 5 1/4 was an accurate sizing, as she thought she was a 6. oh well. aaron and laura will pick it up and mail it to angela. travis' ring should be here soon, arriving from cyber space.......hopefully. unless angela ripped herself off.....

travis got here last night. we had some dinner and then headed to the mall with shyan to sort out.. .TRAVIS' RING. what an ordeal. of course, the 8.5 didn't fit- just as i figured when i asked the lady to order in an 8 as well, aaand the ring was not the design we wanted. how frusterating. we found a more expensive ring at a different store, but it would take 8 weeks to come. augh. so i ordered one on the internet this morning. travis is off to a bachelor camping trip tonight. should be fun. he was so excited...... he will be back in the morning....

angela ordered the flowers today. a multitude of different shades of pink roses. ah! how romantic. for the past few months, angela and travis have been pining over a honeymoon to hawaii, but now they are considering changing their minds to... cuba, mexico, disney or.... they aren't really sure. but they need to make up their minds. travis is hopefully selling his motorbike this weekend. the extra cash will be nice......
travis will be back in pg on friday night for the weekend. hoorah! its been a miserable 3 days apart!

46 days......
on friday, angela left after work for edson. travis was in edmonton playing hockey with a bunch from edson, edmonton and various small towns in between. he stayed the weekend at justin and belinda eckstein's while angela set up the basement suite with all the wonderful presents from her bridal shower. on saturday, angela and travis went in service with justin and belinda, and then aaron and laura came with a truckfull of travis' stuff from calgary. after unpacking, aaron and laura took travis and angela to boston pizza for a yummy dinner. sunday after the meeting, travis and angela were spoiled again when the london family invited them and justin and belinda over for lunch. then they went to belinda's parents place for a turkey dinner and met a bunch of nice pioneer girls from edmonton, including belinda's hilairious sister, katie. it was fun. on monday, angela and the 5 girls went in service, then travis and angela met for lunch at wendy's before angela went to sign papers at the pool. that night travis, angela, justin and belinda went out for chinese and to see spiderman III. it was a fun night. then angela left this morning. it was a sad drive home........
the kingdom hall in edson has recently been renovated. check out the photos....

it's been 76 days since jarom and charissa's wedding.
it's 17 days until brooks and eileen's wedding.
it's 52 days until our wedding........
i am going to edson on friday after work. travis met some friends ( belinda and ? eckstein) . (? is the nephew of our friends in medicine hat: travis and delayna eckstein. how bizarre!) i will stay at their place. i'm going to bring out as much 'stuff' as will fit in my little car. i will accept a position with the town of edson and do the paper work, although i won't be able to do the timed swim, as i am still on antibiotics for my throat/ ear/ sinus infection. only 2 more days of work until i can see travis. this has been the longest and most torturous month ever!! augh.
at lunch, kayley and i went and saw baby poelman today. she wasn't even a day old!!! an adorable little GIRL ( i knew it!) weighing in at 9 lb, 8 oz and 23 inches long with the name maya patricia poelman. maya because she was born May 1. and patricia is chelsey's mom's name. and poelman is pretty self-explanatory. so cute. congrats, chelsey and jon!!!! www.chelsandjonpoelman.blogspot.com

only 54 days left.....
travis moved into what was going to be our future home yesterday, but the lady had still not cleaned it as promised, so he spent the night, hoping it would be clean the next day...which it still wasn't. the place was pretty dirty and smelled of cigarettes and various unknown, throat-gagging odours.
so, i spent the morning calling about 18 different places in edson with limited success, but then found an opening for a basement suite. travis checked it out and it was clean, odourless, bright and new with nice appliances.... expensive, but average price for a place in edson:$1200/ month. eep! more than most people's mortgages. still cheaper than a lot of the basement suites that i had called when i found the "steal of a deal apartment" which turned out to be a dump. i guess thats all you get for $875.....we are just happy to get the damage deposit back without travis having to stay there for a month.
ah. anyways, aaron and laura are coming out to edson on the weekend with some of travis' stuff, so that will be good. we will live about 3 minutes from the pool, so i am excited to no longer be spending $200/month on gas! I also put travis' car up for sale today....
1995 Saturn SC1: 5 speed, red, sunroof, mp3/cd, extra set of winter rims and tires, excellent condition... $3,100 OBO.
if we sell, I will let travis drive lulu ( the aveo ) and i will either ride the scooter or bike to work. that will be fun.
travis went grocery shopping for the first time tonight!
i started the blackburn community centre running clinic. will be on mondays and wednesdays for the next 8 weeks. perfect for me to get into shape before the wedding. i am also trying to get back to swimming more regularly, as i will be working for the Edson Leisure Centre.

only 58 days left.....
last saturday, pat m. had a bridal shower for angela. the location was a surprise, but by 7:30, angela had pretty much figured out that there was a shower going on that evening for her.... it was attended by many, and angela was most certainly spoiled!!!!! she received so many awesome presents, and the cake made by sandra was delicious.........
on sunday, angela and shyan went to metia's where they became addicted to... dance dance revolution. yes, the asian dancing video game.
ah. then on monday, they headed to walmart to clean out the scrapbooking section of the store and have photos of the shower developed.......
on wednesday, angela and hazel headed to edson where angela secured her job with dr. scott stewart as an optometric assistant and checked out travis' new apartment that he will be moving into over the weekend.
today, travis finished his last exam. he is now officially an Industrial Instrumentation Engineering Technologist. hooray!!! he did excellent in all of his courses! he will begin working as an Instrument Mechanic apprentice for celtic controls in edson starting on monday, april 30th, but will spend this weekend in Smeaton for the auction of his dad's estate.

travis left this morning= angela is very sad
after a long weekend spent together, this happily engaged couple was separated yet again this morning......
travis arrived in prince george thursday afternoon. after dinner, angela and travis headed over to leslie and jason's and anxiously awaited the arrival of 'the scoot'( the little 50cc scooter that travis bought angela last summer- yet to be named ), which jason brought up from quesnel.
on friday, angela and travis ordered travis' ring and registered at canadian tire. they went to a movie with philip, rachel and shyan ( blades of glory ). it was a humourous movie and afterwards they enjoyed a beverage at second cup.
on saturday, after a successful morning in service with alana and dana, angela and travis went shopping and then headed to harrisons for a visit. they picked up brittany and brianna and headed to quensel for...... a surprise bridal shower for eileen. it was very fun. and angela played a trick on joan, who had left that morning for hawaii.....
on sunday, angela and travis drove their scooter to leslie and jasons and then rushed home in order to get to the meeting. afterwards, they went bowling with shyan,kris,brenda,jared and anna. afterwards they went to howitts for kareoke, although neither angela nor travis partook in the festivities. it was great fun.
on monday, angela and travis put together all of their wedding centrepieces and vegged out watching tv most of the day. it was a very fun weekend....
then this morning, travis left. it was a sad morning. angela will remain sad most of the month until she gets to see travis again.
on the plus side...... only 73 days remain until the big day.
on the down side..... 73 more long torturous days of waiting.

stupid, stupid moores.
so getting the guys clothing is pretty simple right.....
#1)pick out tuxes#2) get measured for said tuxes#3)pick up tuxes #4)wear tuxes......
well picking out the tuxes was near disasterous with a salesgirl who couldn't spell. as previously mentioned, i spelled s-h-y-m-a-n-s-k-i- five times. FIVE times. and she still spelled it wrong. her printing was so so so messy that i was positive when i left that something would be incorrect.... however i thought that at stage 2 "get measured for tuxes", the mistake would be noticed. first up: travis and aaron..... nope, everything apparently checked out. the colours and styles that i had picked matched up with the ones that were shown to them at the store...... then, this afternoon,i received an email from kyle....blessed kyle.... who made an inquiry.... that went something like this

Angela found the perfect centrepieces for the wedding, and a great deal of green napkins from Ikea! Mom bought her a cute pink broom and dustpan set from Ikea, and at her shower she recieved many gifts from her "registry": ketchup, jello vanilla pudding (pack of 4), rolling pin, cookbook ( from pippi, as pippi chewed the one that came with the bay registry), panties ( to which Angela declared 'oh! oh my! i am so embarrassed!"), some floating candles, a dish towel etc. Angela feels like she was so spoiled! Angela bought Travis some candy bars from the USA, as her efforts to find his ring ( 8 mm tungsten carbide ring with bevelled edges and a brushed centre) were unsuccessful. She bought them from this little USA Mini Mart, located right near the Canada/USA border. She had planned on buying a bottle of USA beer from the grocery store too, but upon reaching the till realized that in the USA, she is not of legal age.
Angela also bought two heart shaped ice cube trays from IKEA. They are adorable and she hopes they work.
Angela didn't buy very many things, although she bought two bikinis in the USA, but upon realizing how ridiculously out of shape her body has gotten, returned them and will wait until a later date to do the "bikini shopping for her honeymoon" thing. angela found a lot of wonderful things at Micheals that she plans on buying after the wedding for completion of her wedding album, which she highly anticipates putting together.
Angela enjoyed her time off, but is looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow, and has laundry to do now.

On Saturday, Angela attended her National Lifeguard Service Waterpark Recert at Watermania pool in Richmond. It was a busy recert and a busier pool. After the course, Angela joined Mom, Leah and Ryan and several of their friends for dinner at a greek restaurant. Tasting the greek food made everyone look forward to the meal that will be served at the wedding.....
Sunday was service and then shopping. Angela had hoped to get her ring sized at Spence in Vancouver, as she still has not had it sized, but unfortunately it was going to take longer than Angela would be in vancouver. Angela registered at the Bay and was pleased to recieve a gift card and cook book. Angela, Leah, Ryan and Mom went to Auntie Edna and Uncle Norm's place for dinner. It was a delicious meal, enjoyed by Steve, Ginette, Seth,Nolan, and Robbie also. After buying a new toothbrush,deoderant and contact solution, Angela spent the night. In the morning, Angela and Robbie met up with Mom and Leah for a trip into a foreign country.... the USA! After Angela being hasselled at the border for forgetting her passport, the little Mini Cooper filled with more passengers than ever before (4) headed down to Bellingham and then near Seattle to hit the Outlet stores. It was a fun day, and Robbie got his Jack in the Box burger. Leah needed to get to her strata metting so we rushed back to Burnaby, where she made it just in the nick of time..... On Tuesday, there was more service and more shopping and then driving Angela to her Lifesaving Instructor Recertification at the Jewish Community Centre in Vancouver. She passed the course and was very pleased.......
The whole weekend, Angela was half expecting a bridal shower of sorts. She tricked herself into thinking that Leah was planning one and had convinced herself so much that at 5 o'clock, on the way to her course in Vancouver, the realization came that there really was no shower planned and all the "hints" were just coincidences. Buuuut when Angela came out of her course, Leah and Mom had cooked something up: They handed Angela an invitation that read something like this ( written on a bright green frog invitation): Hop on Over! You've been invited to a Bridal Shower for Angela to be held in the Jewish Community Centre Parking lot. Please RSVP by 8:30. Pippi had a pink party hat on and Leah's little Yaris had streamers and balloons and a sign proclaiming "Bride On Board". Angela hopped in, to find the car filled with pink packages and a piece of cake. As the mobile party took the guests ( Mom, Leah, Pippi and Angela) to the second venue ( Leah's condo), they tooted their party horns. Waiting anxiously at the condo were : Ginette, Nolan and Ryan. We enjoyed the gift opening, the cake and refreshments. A speech was given, as is the custom at bridal showers and thorought the night, you could hear comments being made such as " you must tell me who made this cake" and "speech!! speech!!". It was a lovely and memorable shower. Angela was most certainly surprised. Leah and Mom did so well at keeping the shower a secret......Here are some photos.....

On Thursday afternoon, a delivery truck from Princess Flowers pulled up outside Angela's place of employment, Nechako Optometric Clinic. Angela saw the floral delivery man bring out a huge bouquet of orchids and roses out of his truck and walk towards the entrance of the office. She looked admiringly at the delivery and brought her next patient into the pretesting room. Upon her return to the front desk, Angela was excited to find out that the delivery was for her! Her darling fiance surprised her once again. Here are some photos.....
Angela was leaving on friday after work for vancouver, so she took her flowers with her. The flowers survived the trip and enjoyed their stay on leah's new dining room table and were still in fantastic shape for the drive home.

ninety-six days.....
only 2 months until brooks and eileen's wedding.....
in preparation......angela took advantage of a 'free month' voucher for a local gym. she brought hayley along as inspiration/work out buddy. then they went to a local tanning salon, where the kind owner gave them a free tan. it felt so good. the girls felt like they were laying on beaches in hawaii........until they left the salon and were greeted by a hail/snow/rain combination storm. it was a tad depressing. once this month pass is over, angela has two more 'free two week membership' vouchers for 2 other gyms. that will bring her to May 19th.... brooks and eileen's wedding. angela is hoping that she will get a base tan by then, and just go once a week to maintain it until her wedding. angela made hair appointments for melanie (sister), leah (sister), rachel (sister-in-law), savanna (bridesmaid), her mom and herself for the morning of the wedding. angela is curiously interested in also having her makeup done for the wedding day. angela has found several hairstyles that she likes. angela's gown has been taken to betty wilkins house to have the capsleeves made for it. the flowergirl dresses are also being completed, with only the pink sashes still to be made ( also by betty wilkin). angela thinks that some wedding guests coming from distant places might want to either stay at the sandman hotel or the loghouse restaurant rv park which is right down the lake from the peters' home. (people have been invited from.... iow,england,toronto,ont.,thompson,mb.,smeaton,sk., prince albert,sk.,calgary, ab.,medicine hat, ab.,all over the lower mainland(vancouver, delta,burnaby,surrey,langley,port coquitlam etc), kelowna,bc.,kamloops,bc.,quesnel,bc.,hixon,bc. and more.......)...

so angela had this nightmare the other night. it was the day before the wedding. angela's mom thought she was alone in the peters' house, when suddenly she heard music playing in the room downstairs where angela's wedding gown is being stored. she went downstairs, not sure what to expect, and definately not expecting to find what she did... travis wearing angela's dress and veil. hazel asked travis what he was doing and he responded "playing wedding". hazel asked again... "playing wedding". hazel said "if you want to play wedding, your tux is upstairs" travis responded "no, hazel i'm playing wedding". hazel said "shouldn't angela know about this". then angela woke up. and promptly called travis to laugh. haha

today angela and travis have been engaged for 3 months. boy they have accomplished a lot.....
ask for kingdom hall, ask mike to give talk,set a date, establish budget,decide on size and formality, decide on wedding party,announce engagement,purchase dress,book photographer,make guest list,remake guest list,order invitations,send out invitations,order wedding cake,choose wedding favours,get cake topper, book hairdresser, order bridesmaid dresses, choose tux colours and styles... wow!

wedding planning has been a great introduction to the whole "spelling your surname 10 times daily" thing.
this is something completely new to angela, as peters is a pretty typically spelled name, but shymanski?
here it goes.....s-h-y...m-a-n...s-k-i....

yeah, that's it. like SHY MAN SKI. perfect!
except that the other day at moore's, i had to spell it 5 times for the girl. and as i peeked over the desk at our tux rental order form, there i saw it.... Schymannski. and the 'y' was scratched in over top of an original 'i'. oh well. i tried.

and apparently i'm not too stressed about it, as i am sitting here translating the phrase " 100 days" into 11 various languages......
what i am stressed about is.......
the fact that 1) travis' apprenticeship doesn't allow him to return to bc to work for 1 more year
2) that means he/we are moving
3) to edson
4) which means: meeting a new congregation, finding new jobs, being in a new town,
preparing a new home.... new LIFE.
5) and we'll be getting used to BEING MARRIED amidst all this. ahhhhhh
planning a wedding? easy peasy lemon squeezy......
coming to grips with this whole new life? stressssful......
we'll see how right john lennon was with his advice that 'all you need is love'....... which is, by the way, one of my favourite songs by my absolute favourite band. ah.

a highlight of the weekend was : Brooks and Eileen were baptised! Angela gave Eileen a big kiss on the cheek. Tears were shed, hugs were shared and photos were taken. It was a happy and memorable occasion. March 11, 2007 will always be a special day for Brooks and Eileen. Sidenote: Angela's baptism date was March 12, 2000 and Travis' was March 13, 2005. March 11, 2007 was also Mackenzie Nordgren's first ever assembly!
Only 69 more days until Brooks and Eileen's wedding. It's so close we can all almost taste the chocolate fountain...mmmmm.

as per popular request ( aka the preg'o chelsey's request), here is an update.
angela went to calgary last weekend. hayley and angela left at 3pm on friday and arrived in calgary sometime in the wee hours of the morning. it was a long, but amusing drive. the weekend consisted of: service, going out to eat, shopping, a movie, playing jeopardy and mad gab with aaron and laura, the meeting on sunday and vegging..... then came the long drive back, with a pit stop in edson to take in the sights and smells of travis and angela's possible future home. angela and hayley absolutely loved mojo java. it was cool. they got home late on monday night. angela and travis miss each other immensely... already.
on a very very exciting note... angela and travis made TOP NEWS ( in smeaton, sask). Check out the smeaton and district newsletter!

congratulations to julie and anthony, the vibe 98.5 winners. angela was a little (read: a lot) disapppointed when she found out that angela and travis did not win the wedding. oh well. slim chance when over 10,000 people entered the contest. the winners made a humourous little puppetshow. pretty good for a couple that is already living together. aaargh!

tomorrow is the big day. well, not THE big day, but a big day as the Vibe 98.5 dream wedding winner is chosen. angela will be listening to the radio, and travis will be standing by his phone all morning. it will either be a very big dream come true, or a disappointing end to a nice dream. we shall see. angela really hopes that they are chosen. she kind of thinks that if they aren't the winners that travis might agree to elope. that might be kind of exciting? travis and angela will be happily reunited on wednesday or thursday (weather depending). angela and travis are having engagement photos taken this weekend. they might use them on their invitation, depending on how they look, as they are reconsidering the current invitation idea. angela and travis think that winning the dream wedding might be a good idea, as there will be a wedding planner, and not much time for changing minds about silly things like the style of cake or invitations. angela and travis will be thinking about jarom and charissa on thursday night, as that is when jarom and charissa will be vowing their lives together. angela and travis regret that they won't be able to make it to the wedding, but look forward to spending time with their newly married friends at a later date in calgary (perhaps at the dream wedding???!?! as you can see, angela is completely obsessed with the possibility of winning this wedding. ). angela and travis are looking forward to spending time with eileen and brooks this weekend. the girls will probably spend most of their visit discussing weddingy things, as per usual. savanna (bridesmaid) will be coming to prince george for the weekend as well, and angela and travis are hoping to get together with her as well. angela will post again tomorrow if she wins the contest, or if she does not win the contest, in a few days after the sadness and disappointment has subsided. here's to hoping!!

we would like to have greek food at the wedding (despite the fact that neither of us are greek, we really love greek food). we would love to have some greek traditions like the "pay to dance with the bride or groom", too, but that is unlikely. more likely? smashing plates.... or a phone. yes, we would love to smash a phone as we are sick of talking on the phone all the time( but mostly the outrageous phonebills it creates).

travis and angela are trying to win a dream wedding from "the vibe- 98.5" in calgary. (value: $98,000) travis wasn't going to tell angela, and was going to try to win it himself, but angela had already sent in a letter. so now they have each sent in an email trying to win. it would be a fabulous wedding, happening on april 15th, but VERY unlikely. oh well, it's nice to dream, isn't it?

how we met...

it was spring 2004........
angela had just come back from england with philip. luke nordgren was heading out to calgary to buy his new truck with a friend of his ( travis ). angela begged for a ride out there so that she visit her friend and do some shopping. the boys picked angela up and it was an interesting trip. the three ate at EVERY fast food chain known to canada and drank lots of bellinis. while luke was in the bank, angela and travis were in a home decor store, goofing around pretending they were married and looking at cool, expensive things for homes. angela thought travis was really funny. travis remembered admiring angela at a district convention the previous summer and remembered her wearing lots of pink. travis asked angela to come to prom with him. it was at this time that he stole a cool keychain that angela bought in germany. travis came to angela and savanna's grad party and the two danced, but when it came to july and was time for travis' grad...... angela thought travis was joking and also did not have a ride to quesnel, so SHE STOOD HIM UP. the two didn't really talk for a lot of months, and when angela tried to apologize in the summer, travis avoided her. angela intended to send travis a postcard from ecuador, but it was not safe to send mail from there. so when she returned she asked travis to accompany her to play football at the park. they did not play football, but rather talked the entire time. travis challenged angela to come to quesnel the next day. so she stole her parents car and went... only "to get her keychain back". There were many trips between quesnel and prince george in the months to follow, UNTIL travis announced he was moving to calgary to attend school. Well, angela had already been accepted to medicine hat college. Angela moved to medicine hat in may, and travis headed out to alberta in june. Over the summer, they didn't get to see each other as much as they would have liked, as they were both very busy getting settled in their new cities. When school started in the fall, the weekend trips back and forth began. They spent the entire winter holiday of 2005/2006 together. Afterwards, Angela stayed in Prince George, preparing for a trip to England, and Travis returned to school in Calgary. Well, Angela didn't last as long as she had thought in the UK (missed travis too much/ got mono) and came back to canada in time for travis' school year to be up. Travis got a job in quesnel for the summer at Cariboo Pulp, and angela spent a lot of her summer down there ( working at goofy, underpaid jobs) just to be with travis. the summer ended and angela returned to prince george, and travis returned to calgary. more weekend trips and another winter holiday spent together... leading up to the PROPOSAL..... there it is... a bit of our story.

Hello from Travis and Angela!
wow. wedding planning is busy busy work. we probably won't keep up with our "blog" as well as jarom and charissa ( jaromandcharissa.blogspot.com ). but it will be an attempt! we have decided on a date: June 23, 2007. Hoorah!
On a less happy note, Travis went back to Calgary on Monday after 3 weeks in PG. We were engaged on the 18th of December, so we had lots of time to spread the news and visit people. Leslie and Jason even had an engagement party for us. It was tons of fun. Check out the photos!
We're well on our way with the wedding plans and now Travis has the great idea of trying to win this contest in Calgary for a $94,000 dream wedding. I think it will remain a dream.....
So far, being engaged is an exciting new time for us. We went snowboarding a few times over the holiday and were back and forth to Quesnel quite a bit. We did lots of visiting with family and saw several movies over the past few weeks. We really enjoyed "the pursuit of happiness".
We are now eagerly anticipating our wedding in 161 days! We are also looking forward to being in Brooks and Eileen's wedding on May 19 and Charissa and Jarom's wedding February 15th, 16th and March 3rd.
